John Shoghollo

John Shogollo comes from family which were always interested in art. He helped his mother to decorate walls of their house  already, making pictures of bananan treas etc.  when he was small child.  His father was member of BASATA (National Art Council of Tanzania) “There was always something going on in our family”, he says. It is natural that Shogollo became artist. He is born on Kilimanjaro slopes in 1965 in the same village as David Mzuguno (but they are not family). His tribe is Mpare.  He studied the Primary School in Arusha but then continued the secondary school in Morogoro. After he took three years course at Bagamoyo Collage of Art where he now has sessions teaching fine art. He tought also at Bagamoyo Sculpture School for five years. He had number of exhibitions both in Tanzania and abroad. He visited Stockholm on one occasion. He has wide clientele and one of his admirers is Norwegian ambassador. He gets sometimes the material for painting from USA brought by Linda Stolz (alliance for Africa). He has two children, both boys who also tries to paint. His vision is to finish build his house and open gallery there.
