Kivuthi Mbuno

Kivuthi Mbuno

Kivuthi Mbuno was born in 1947 in Kenya. He has been involved in traveling in nature since his youth. He worked as a safari chief in Kenya and Tanzania. That builds his deep passion and relationship with wild fauna. When reaching age of 29 he meets the baroness of Karen Blixen. As an outcome of such a close relation is his move to Langata where he gradually transfers his work into drawing. We can see that there is a strong influence from the Wakamba tribes as he is also originally coming from. Ink, colour pencils and pastels are the means of his nature relationship expression. Mbuno is recognised as an international artist. His work has been exhibited at many international galleries and events. Some of them can be named as Gallery Watatu, Nairobi, Kenya, 1988, "African Contemporary Art Show" - Gallery Parco, Tokyo, Japan, 1993, "Animal tribale, corpo metropolitano" - Pescheria Nuova, Comune di Rovigo, Italy in 2002.
